We first take pleasure in appreciating this beer’s ebony-tinted red highlights, and its nose featuring aromas of toffee lightly spiced with juniper berries. Next, all of the grains which make up its palate emerge in the mouth: the combination of wheat, rye and smoked malt flavours give this beer a complexity that betrays both its lightness and its low percentage of alcohol. The finish is rich and smooth, but still delicate, refreshing like the wind from which it is named. Skibsol is a little-known classic of the Danish tradition, revived in 1994 by the brewery Refsvindinge, and proposed as collaborative beer by our friend Laurent Mousson, a prominent Helvetian member of the Liberation Front. Literally meaning boat beer, it will please sailors, adventurers and Danish lovers alike.
